Paul Resika

Paul Resika (b. 1928) is an American painter whose eight-decade career bridges representation and abstraction, blending classical traditions with modernist innovation. He is known for his paintings of iconic Provincetown forms, French farmhouses, and lyrical figurative compositions.

I met Paul Resika in 2023 when I began working on a monograph about Joseph De Martini, whose work he admires. As Paul and I discussed the project at various points, my interest in Paul's life and work steadily deepened. In 2025 I built a web-based catalog that brings together his artworks, exhibitions, and literature, along with other materials like his wife Blair's photographs. I also built and maintain his website, the design of which is inspired by the 2020 monograph Paul Resika: Eight Decades of Painting.

In 2026 I became Paul's archivist. In this role, I partner with Blair to maintain a comprehensive record of Paul's work and consult with galleries and archives to compile a detailed list of his exhibitions and literature. I also assisted art historian Avis Berman as a researcher and editor in updating his chronology.
